PLEASE VOTE TUESDAY!!!

Updated: Mar 9, 2020

Please make sure to vote this Tuesday between 6am and 8pm at Souhegan High School as Amherst’s future may depend on it! Encourage friends and family to do the same.

A few years ago, a selectman’s seat was decided by a single vote so every, single vote counts!

Please consider a vote of Yes on:

  • #37 to elect our planning board,

  • #38 to finally implement impact fees,

  • #40 to stop exploitive zoning and

  • #41 to reduce cluster housing by limiting density bonuses.

See below for more information.

Vote Yes on Article #37

By voting yes on this article, you are voting to change the Planning Board from appointed to elected. Currently, the Planning Board is appointed by the Board of Selectmen. This is the only Development Board in town that is appointed. By having them as elected officials, the residents of Amherst will determine who serves in this un-paid volunteer position. Every resident, new or old, should have the ability to serve the town.

Vote Yes on Article #38

Impact fees were approved by Amherst voters in 2005 and never implemented! By voting yes on this article, the restrictive language to implementation of impact fees in zoning ordinance will be removed, making it easier to implement and collect impact fees.

Vote Yes on Article #40

By voting yes on this article, you are voting to remove the IIHO ordinance (section 4.16) in its entirety from Amherst's zoning laws. This means the town would revert to pre-IIHO ordinances and zoning, which has served the town well for many years.

Vote Yes on Article #41

By voting yes on this article, you are voting to limit the maximum allowable density bonus under the IIHO (section 4.16) to 35%. Right now there is no limit.
